Me and the #1 Man in my Life.

Mom first; Immature adult second.

I started my journey to motherhood with an unplanned pregnancy. Birth father? Appalled. So I set out on my own, determined to give my son everything he would supposedly miss from a two-parent household. With some help from loving family, close friends, underemployed/underpaid jobs and sheer determination - we are making it. Happy and healthy in an unforgiving world. I'm part punk/part boho (who cares if I was born in 1980 :P), God-loving, a musician, an artist, have Type 1 bipolar disorder, am a lover, and a fighter. With everything in my power, he will never want for the important things. I love my son.

Single Mom

From Wiki: "...Single parenting has become an accepted norm in the United States and is an accepted trend found in multiple countries outside of the United States...Collectively, 83.1% of single parents are mothers compared to 16.9% of those who are fathers...Children will lean more towards mothers because of their protective, nurturing characteristics, from a long established mother-child relationship from early on attachment beginning at birth and continuing as the child grows up...single mothers have to play the role of family provider as well;...the mother must fulfill this role whilst also providing adequate parentage. Because of this dual role, 80% of single mothers are employed of which 50% are full-time workers...Many employed single mothers rely on childcare facilities to care for their children while they are away at work...27% of single mothers live below the poverty line,[21] as they lack the financial resources to support their children when the birth father is unresponsive. Although the public is sympathetic with low-wage single mothers, government benefits are fairly low.
